They will halve the blackboards!

Давно так не смеялся.

Dear colleaugues!
As I informed you in my previous letter on 25-th February I had meeting
with ***, Media Services Manager, representative of Estates who
is responsible for removing blackboards (in Newspeak it is so called
"refurbishment")
I badly need advices from you for my next meeting with him which we
plan after one-two weeks.

The results of discussion are follwong:

1. The good news are that he told me
that all the works which they will perform they will consult with us.

2. The bad news are that the plans of Estates are following: They have to
repair almost all the lecture theatres which still have blackboards:
Zochonis A,B.C, D1 Renolds---C16, C2, C9... the survival will be the
lecture theatre F47 in Sacwille Building which they do not touch because
of restrictions on the works in the historical buidlings...

Yes he repeated hundred times that there is a good word "compromise"
They understand this word "compromise" in the following diabolical sence:
they will halve the blackboards and they put whiteboard in the second
half. In this way they will defend the computer equipment from the dust. I
tried to comment that nobody needs very big whiteboards and on the other
hand it sounds very weird to use whiteboard in big lecture theatres. All
my comments were responded by two sentences: 1) Computers suffer from the
dust and big whiteboards will be natural shield to prevent computers from
the dust. 2) We agree for compromises,so we have divide everything on two.
This sounds like Solomon judgement...
I tried to tell him may be we we will leave some lecture theatres remain
with blackboards.
The sad part is that he always quoted that all other schools except our
are not so keen to preserve blakboards and they really like whiteboard.
I think that translation of his words in English is: Nobody likes dirty
places which are not cleaned during months....and nobody in fact needs
big whiteboards as we need big and good blackboards.

Of course he showed me exibition of high-tech equipment, but
As *** tells:
"What we need is world class blackboards and world class cleaning"

Finally we agreed that I will have consultations with muy colleagues
and will meet him again in two weeks.

You see, I will be very happy to know your opinion and listen your
advices how to deal with this problem.

The last thing: he asked me opinion of mathematicians
what balckboards they prefer vertical or horisontal.

I know that it is not easy toanswer this question understanding
that everything will be halved, but please, try to answer.
your opinons and listen your advices how to deal with this poroble.

please respond me on my letter
